2025 Asian Rowing U19&U23 Championships starts in Shenyang for 2nd straight year

  SHENYANG - The 2025 Asian Rowing U19&U23 Championships raised the curtain here on Friday morning along the scenic Hunhe river for the second consecutive year.

  After the successful hosting of the 2024 event, the championships, in the spotlight of the rowing enthusiasts across the continent, has attracted the participation of youth rowing teams from 15 countries and regions.

  More than 258 rowers will vie for the top honors in 24 events across two age groups for both men and women, namely each group will compete in six events of single sculls, double sculls and quadruple sculls as well as coxless pair, coxless four and coxed eight.

  The coxed eight event is added to the competition agenda and will be a highlight of the championships as it will see 12 teams for the fastest and most competitive races along the Hunhe river, showcasing their tacit cooperation between coxswain and rowers.

  During the 2024 championships, 11 of 19 countries and regions have made their names to the medal tally, with hosts China grabbing 13 of the 20 golds on offer.

  The four-day tournament, originally scheduled to kick off on Thursday, was postponed to Friday due to heavy rain and condensed into a three-day event running until Sunday.
