SHENYANG - Zhao Shiyan (CHN) won the men's U19 single sculls final at the Asian Rowing U19&U23 Championships here on Saturday.
On his feeling about winning the game:
“Winning the gold medal today is also a new motivation for me. Success can not be achieved in one day, so I need to gain experience little by little. I will keep working hard in the future.”
On the weather during the competition:
“The weather definitely puts a damper on the game, but It has an effect on everyone. We are all in the same weather condition and the key is to fight through it.”
On the difference with adult athletes:
“I am 17 years old, and compared to adult athletes, I still have a lot to improve in all aspects of my abilities, including competition experiences.”
On his next goal:
“I will keep going on with my training to achieve better results and fulfill bigger dreams.”
On his message to rowing enthusiasts:
“Today, a group of students from Hunnan No. 9 Primary School in Shenyang City braved the wind and rain to come to cheer us up. I was so moved when I heard them shouting “China will win”. I learned that they will start to do rowing in the third or fourth grade in the school. Their school has its own rowing team and various facilities for rowing training, which is very remarkable. I hope that all the children will not forget their dream and work hard for it.”
