Hu of China enters final through repechage

SHENYANG - Hu Xinwen of China timed in eight minutes and 6.44 seconds in repechage on Thursday, securing the last ticket to the final of the women's U19 single sculls at the ongoing Asian Rowing U19 and U23 Championships here along the Hun river.

Kim Seung-hyeon of South Korea won the repechage in 8:04.75, also making it to Final A of the event.

"This is my first time to visit Shenyang, and the course along the Hun river is great," Hu said.

Aiming to win the gold medal, Hu will face her strongest rival of Liu Jie (HKG) again who won their heat with her personal best of 7:52.05 on Wednesday.

From the six repechage races in the morning, Vietnam secured five tickets to the finals, and Kazakhstan also got a pair of final berths for the Championships.
